MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Get ready for the crowds -- crowdfunding, that is.
Wisconsin businesses can sell stock online beginning on Sunday at the start of June.
The governor and Legislature paved the way last year for companies to use sites like Kickstarter to seek capital from investors. They said it's an easy way to help small businesses, by giving them access to a wide group of potential investors.
Most of those investors will be limited to $10,000 in a single crowdfund offering.
Businesses can raise up to $1 million from Wisconsin investors -- and $2 million if the company has a recent audit that's shared with investors and state securities' regulators.
