NEW LONDON, WI (WTAQ) - A 19-year-old New London man was apparently looking for payback when he threw a Molotov cocktail at an apartment door early Tuesday.

That's what New London Police Lt. Chris Gregory told FOX 11 they learned from interviews with the suspect, who's now facing recommended charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, arson and damage to property.

Gregory calls it a case he's never seen before in his 20 years with the department.

Two people were hurt after having to jump out of a back window to safety. In all, six people were displaced from the apartments above the Copper Shot Bar in the city's downtown.

Gregory tells FOX 11 the man is also connected to a playground fire outside New London High School that was set nearly an hour later.

No word yet on what the damage costs from both fires is. The suspect is due in court Thursday morning.
