Dave Grohl has landed a deal with HBO to produce and host his own TV series. According to Classic Rock magazine , the series will focus on cool recording studios around the country and the folks who run and record in them.
The idea was reportedly inspired by Grohl's Sound City documentary, which profiled the legendary Sound City Studios, where Grohl and Nirvana recorded the band's iconic 1991 album Nevermind, and which included interviews from artists who have recorded at the famous studio during their careers.
Featured in Grohl's new series will be Inner Ear Studios in Washington, D.C., which has hosted Henry Rollins , Fugazi and even Dave Grohl's pre-Nirvana band Scream ; Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago, which is owned by Nirvana producer Steve Albini and also was a recording site of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page ; Ranch de la Luna Studios in Joshua Tree, California, which is rumored to be the latest recording site of Foo Fighters ; and many others.
Grohl has also chatted with a bunch of artists for the series including -- so far -- Nancy Wilson of Heart , KISS ' Paul Stanley and the Eagles ' Joe Walsh -- who just confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that he's a guest on the now-underway Foo album.
The series doesn't yet have a name but is expected to land on HBO's winter schedule.
