BELOIT, WI (WTAQ) - State and local authorities are investigating an incident in Beloit Sunday night, in which a woman was killed by a driver who was just starting to flee officers.

Beloit Police said they responded to a compliant about an unwanted person in a house around 7:40 p.m., and they found 47-year-old Sheila Rosenbaum and a 40-year-old man inside.

Officers said they tried arresting the man, but he jumped into a vehicle and struck Rosenbaum while trying to get away. Officials said the Beloit officers fired shots at the man's vehicle, and it crashed a short time later.

The man reportedly tried running off, but police caught him. He was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

Officials said the man and Rosenbaum knew each other, but they were not sure how. State justice investigators are looking into the police shooting.
