GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The debate over the actions of a Green Bay police officer on a viral cell phone video continues nearly two weeks after it happened.
There are two online petitions calling for Officer Derek Wicklund to be congratulated, while two others want him either criminally charged or removed from the department. The latter petition has over 27,000 signatures – some coming from other states and countries.
In the now infamous video, Officer Wicklund took down and arrested 29-year-old Joshua Wenzel for allegedly resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
The Green Bay Police Department is investigating the incident outside a downtown bar. After that, the Wisconsin Department of Justice will review it.
