MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- People in Wisconsin are now able to get some help to offset the high propane costs they’ve experienced over the winter.
The new law administers emergency heating assistance through the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority, or WHEDA.
Households with income up to 200 percent of the median income of their county can apply for up to 25-hundred dollars in guaranteed loans with participating lenders, with the state buying down the interest rate and guaranteeing between 50 and 80 percent of the loan.
Applicants must show reasonable ability to repay the loan and how they are ineligible for conventional financing.
More information is available at the WHEDA website.
