PHOENIX, Ariz. (WSAU) -- On the same day manager Ron Roenicke confirmed he'd be the Brewers' leadoff hitter to begin the season, Carlos Gomez hit a leadoff home run but it wasn't enough to get past the Los Angeles Angels who defeated Milwaukee 9-6.
Fransisco Rodriguez, who is still dealing with pain in his left foot from stepping on a cactus, had allowed only one earned run in his previous three appearances. Only one of the four runs against him was earned because of his own error, one of four errors charged to Milwaukee in the game.
Elian Herrera had two hits and three RBIs, and scored a run in the fifth inning when Kyle Lohse hit a single to right field. Lohse allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits in six innings and struck out seven on the mound.
