UNDATED (WSAU) -- A snowmobile crash in western Wisconsin Friday night has claimed a life. 20-year-old Brandon Semingson of Eleva died in a crash that happened in Chippewa County, near Lake Hallie and Highway 29 in the Town of Wheaton.
Sheriff’s deputies say Semingson struck a tree after losing control of his snowmobile. The investigating officer believes speed and unfamiliarity with the trail led to the crash, and that there was no alcohol involved. Semingson was riding with three others on the trail.
Semingson was also a member of the Eleva Fire Department.
Another crash Thursday killed a Readstown man in Vernon County. 31-year-old Joshua McCauley struck a tree and died at the scene north of LaFarge in the Town of Stark near Highway P.
The Department of Natural Resources is assisting in both investigations.
