GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay's homeless population may soon have a daytime destination.

Green Bay's Homeless Task Force is considering opening a resource center in an empty space at 600 S. Adams Street.

It would have information about health care and jobs.

“Absolutely excited about it,” Jane Jordan of Lutheran Social Services told FOX 11.

By June 1, Jordan hopes a building will become a resource for struggling adults looking to change their lives. Lutheran Social Services would rent the building and run the center.

“It has been perseverance and determination, but we understand how very important this is to fulfill a gap within the community,” said Jordan.

Plans would be to open every day except Saturday and its only two blocks from St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter.

City officials would still need to approve a conditional use permit. Jordan expects to file paperwork with the city in the next few weeks.
