GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt will meet privately with members of the city council on Tuesday about "options" for the Larsen Green site.

WTAQ learned about the closed-door meetings Friday, and Mayor Schmitt confirmed that he would be providing an update to aldermen about those options.

"The aldermen don't like to hear things last, I'm explaining to them what I'm doing," says Schmitt. "There's no deal, this is strictly what this could be. We did this with the City Deck, with KI, with the Clarion, with the da Vinci School. There's nothing new here."

Schmitt believes he's acting properly, despite a potential perception that he's pressuring city council members.

"I don't pressure aldermen, I inform them, that's my job...to inform the aldermen and their constituents," says Schmitt. "That's what I plan to do next week and the public."

The mayor intends to hold a press conference on Thursday, one day after meeting with stakeholders. WTAQ has learned that a few aldermen have rejected the meeting with the mayor.

The Larsen Green property is where Walmart is looking to get city approval to build a Supercenter. The city's Plan Commission will take up their rezoning proposal Monday at 6 p.m. in the city council chambers.
