MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) - Manitowoc County Sheriff's say a high speed chase ended after nearly five miles and with the arrest of a Green Bay man.
Authorities say they attempted to stop the man for speeding on I-43 near Clover Road around 6:30 p.m. Deputies indicate the man was driving 78 miles per hour in a 65 zone. The chase reached speeds of up to 110 miles per hour.
Instead of pulling over to the side of the road, the man sped up. Cops followed him north until he crossed the median and took the southbound exit ramp at County Highway JJ. The man drove around barricades and headed west on Logwood Lane until he struck a traffic sign and went into a farm field near South Alverno Rd. and JJ in the town of Manitowoc Rapids.
The man got out and tried to run, but deputies caught him and placed him under arrest.
Sheriff's officials say the 33-year-old man had over a pound of marijuana in his car, which he was looking to deliver to someone else. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license for the third time.
