UNDATED (WSAU) -- There could be some looming tax penalties for some Wisconsin businesses that don't ensure their low-income employees.

Under the new healthcare law, Wisconsin businesses will face tax penalties if their employees have to get their insurance through the online exchanges rather than through Medicaid. That wouldn't be a problem in states where Medicaid has expanded, but Governor Walker has turned down Medicaid expansion funds.

A report from the Jackson Hewitt Tax Service says Wisconsin employers could see total penalties between $25 million and $37 million.
