MCKINLEY, Wis. (WSAU) -- Northwestern Wisconsin deputies are asking for the public’s help to find a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night that killed two pedestrians. The incident happened on County Highway E in northeastern Polk County at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says two men were in an altercation, and it continued into a nearby roadway. That’s when both of the fighting men were hit by a dark colored pickup truck.
Witnesses at the scene also said there was a blue plastic barrel in the box of the truck. The pick-up truck will likely have damage to the front undercarriage. Deputies say at least two people were inside the pickup truck. Both are described as white males wearing baseball caps and at least one man was wearing blue jeans. The driver of the truck stopped briefly at the scene before leaving southbound on County Road E.
The names of the victims have not been released. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Croix Tribal Police are conducting the investigation.
