EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn (WSAU-Wheeler News) A southern Wisconsin woman and her boyfriend were killed by police in Minnesota after the man refused to obey orders to drop a knife. That's what Gopher State officials said yesterday, when they released more details about an incident last Friday that killed 34-year-old Dawn Pfister of Elkhorn and 36-year-old Matthew Serbus.
Minnesota's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said the two were in a vehicle stolen from Colorado, and they had struck another vehicle and kept going when officers discovered the suspects. A chase ensued at speeds up to 90-miles-an-hour. Troopers used spikes to stop the offending vehicle, and it crashed on Highway 212 in Eden Prairie. Officials said both had gotten out of the car when Serbus ignored an order to drop a knife -- and he was shot. Pfister reportedly picked up the knife, and she was then shot, too.
Four officers were identified as being on the scene. The shooting officer has not been identified. The incident remains under investigation.
