Following Freddie Mercury 's death from AIDS in 1991, Queen 's three surviving members organized a historic, star-packed tribute concert that was held at London's Wembley Stadium on April 20, 1992.  Now, a deluxe DVD containing the entire the show, as well as opening-act performances and a bevy of bonus material, will be released as a three-DVD set and a standard-definition Blu-ray disc on September 3.  Both releases include a freshly remastered soundtrack.

The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert: The Definitive Edition features Queen guitarist Brian May , drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon teaming up with an incredible list of music luminaries to perform the British rock legends' best-loved songs.  Among the stars who participated in the event were Metallica frontman James Hetfield , Axl Rose and Slash of Guns N’ Roses , Led Zeppelin ’s Robert Plant and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi .

The video also boasts the event's complete opening set, which features performances from Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard and Extreme , as well as an introduction by May, Taylor and Deacon, a speech by Elizabeth Taylor , and a video homage to Mercury.  The extras include footage of the Queen members rehearsing with Bowie, Lennox and other singers; a documentary that marked the 10th anniversary of the concert; photo galleries and more.

In addition to paying tribute to Freddie, the event raised money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust , an AIDS charity May and Taylor helped establish in honor of the late Queen singer.  The new Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert DVD set features a list price of $29.99, while the Blu-ray will cost $24.98.
