GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - The Green Bay school board unanimously approved starting up a middle school program for 7th and the 8th graders at their meeting Monday night.
The school board approved initial start-up costs of more than $200,000 in addition to the nearly $74,000 in yearly operational costs.
Several other area school districts offer programs and interest in a middle school football program has been growing over the years.
The season is expected to start in the fall when the 2013-2014 school year begins.
The program will adhere to WIAA rules, concussion laws, and will be open for both boys and girls.
For nearly a decade, Brown County Sport League has offered an independent program that features a variety of sports including football.
