Ever since Dave Grohl announced that he'd be playing a concert with some of the artists from his Sound City documentary during next week’s Sundance Film Festival, fans have been wondering who the Foo Fighters frontman will perform with. On Tuesday, Grohl delivered the answer in the form of a photo posted on the Foo Fighters Facebook page of two of the members of the Sound City Players .
The photo features Foos drummer Taylor Hawkins seated behind the drum kit, Queens of the Stone Age multi-instrumentalist Alain Johannes on guitar, and shows Grohl playing bass. The caption for the picture reads: “Oh you want pic proof? OK. Sound City Movie Band practice day 2. Wonder who's coming to practice tomorrow...”
Grohl’s Sound City Players concert will take place on January 18 at Park City Live in Park City, Utah. That's the same day that Sound City premieres at the Sundance Film Festival.
Sound City profiles the legendary Sound City Studios, where Grohl and Nirvana recorded the band's 1991 iconic album, Nevermind , and features interviews and exclusive performances from artists who have recorded at the famous studio during their careers. In addition to Hawkins and Johannes, other artists featured in the film and on its soundtrack include Queens of the Stone Age ’s Josh Homme , Rage Against the Machine ’s Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk , Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor , Slipknot / Stone Sour singer Corey Taylor , former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic , and Foo Fighters guitarist Pat Smear .
