MADISON (WRN)   Michigan’s sudden push to pass a right to work bill in late December has generated talk about the possibility of a similar move here in Wisconsin. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) says it’s not going to happen though.

Vos told reporters Monday “right to work is not going to come up this session.”

While he admits a lawmaker could introduce legislation to make the change, which prevents employees from being required to join a union, he says the bill would not come to the floor for a vote.Vos’ statement echoes earlier comments from Governor Scott Walker, who has indicated he wants the Legislature to focus primarily on legislation that will help the private sector create jobs.

It’s just one of several controversial bills being talked about as the session gets underway though. Vos on Monday declined to say if he would draw a line in the sand on any other proposals, such as eliminating Election Day voter registration. He says those ideas deserve at least a look and a chance to go through the committee process.
