TOWN OF FOREST, Wis. (WSAU) - Plans for a 41-turbine wind farm near the Town of Forest in St. Croix County have been rejected by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.

State regulators listed concerns about the impact of noise from those turbines on nearby homes. Emerging Energies planned to generate about 100 megawatts of power from the 250 million dollar project. The door was left open for the filing of a new application after a noise study is completed.

A spokesperson for Emerging Energies says the company isn’t giving up on the western Wisconsin project yet.
