Jack White has revealed more details about his new vinyl reissue series, Complete Recorded Works in Chronological Order . The ex- White Stripes singer says that he plans to reissue the entire catalog of rare and vintage blues recordings that are owned by Scottish independent Blues label, Document Records.
"There's over 25,000 recordings [to release]," he tells BBC 6 Music . "[I’ll be] releasing the full recorded works [in] chronological order. It's not a project for the faint-hearted."
White adds that releasing the recordings through his label, Third Man Records, is a labor of love and has nothing to do with turning a profit. “We just want to create things that we want to see exist and if it breaks even, we're lucky -- if not, it doesn't really matter,” he explains. “[These recordings are] very important to American history and also to the history of the world.”
The first installment of White's reissue series was released on January 29 and featured recordings by Charley Patton , Blind Willie McTell and The Mississippi Sheiks .
