DELAFIELD, WI (WTAQ) - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reporting a deer has testing positive for chronic wasting disease in Waukesha County.
Even though it’s the first positive test in that southeastern Wisconsin county, experts say it wasn’t unexpected.
Another deer found to be positive for chronic wasting disease had been found 16 miles away in an adjoining county.
The discovery was made when a landowner in the Town of Delafield reported a deer which looked sick to the DNR.
The result won’t change the current management zone’s boundaries, but it does mean a baiting and feeding ban will go into effect for Washington County before the 2013 deer season.
