MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAU) -- A radio personality that spent his early years in central Wisconsin has died.

Gordon Hinkley spent over thirty years at WTMJ in Milwaukee. Hinkley began his career hosting a Sunday piano show at WFHR in Wisconsin Rapids after winning a talent contest. Hinkley was also at WSAU radio in Wausau in the late 1940’s until leaving for Milwaukee in 1950.

His most memorable program was in Milwaukee, where he started the “Ask Your Neighbor” program in 1961. He invited listeners to call and exchange information, such as household tips, advice on how to find a good spot remover and other everyday questions.

Hinkley died Monday at the Village at Manor Park in West Allis. He was 88-years-old.
