Homicide charges anticipated in car versus pedestrian incident

by

GILMAN, Wis. (WSAU) -- A homicide charge is expected against the driver of a car who struck two deer hunters near Gilman Friday, killing one of them.

James Winchel of Sheldon remains hospitalized at Eau Claire Luther Hospital. Taylor County investigators say Winchel was intoxicated and driving too fast when he traveled on County Line Road near Miller Avenue, striking 52-year-old Juan Salinas and 53-year-old Fernando Salinas, both of Roscoe, Illinois. Juan Salinas died at the scene and Fernando Salinas is still hospitalized at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
