A new documentary about KISS is about to begin production that's fully sanctioned by the band and promises to give a comprehensive look at the rock legends' story. According to ClassicRockMagazine.com , You Wanted the Best… You Got the Best -- The Official Kiss Movie will follow the group from its early 1970s beginnings as the band Wicked Lester through their many successes as one of the world's biggest rock acts.
KISS has hired director Alan G. Parker to helm the film. Parker's resume includes documentaries about The Clash , Status Quo , The Sex Pistols and the Monty Python's Flying Circus comedy troupe.
"We are thrilled to have Alan on board to help tell the definitive KISS story," says singer/guitarist Paul Stanley in a statement. "Alan's knowledge of the band amazed even us."
Parker adds, "I'm incredibly proud to be on board for this film, telling the story of a band I love so much and that has such a rich history."
KISS begins its final run of 2013 U.S. tour dates tonight in Gilford, New Hampshire. The current leg runs through an August 18 concert in Hollywood, Florida, and the band will follow it with a brief Japanese trek in October. Check out all of KISS' upcoming dates at KISSOnline.com .
