The Killers , Grizzly Bear and Ben Folds Five all scored positions in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 albums chart this week.
As expected, The Killers claimed the #3 spot with their fourth studio album, Battle Born , which sold 113,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan. While all the band’s previous albums have debuted in the top 10, The Killers have never before scored a #1 album on the Billboard album chart. Their highest-charting release to date is their second studio album, Sam’s Town , which hit #2 when it was released in 2006.
Meanwhile, Grizzly Bear clocked in at #7 with their fourth studio album, Shields , which marks the band’s best sales week to date. Shields sold 39,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan.
In addition, the recently-reunited Ben Folds Five achieved their first top-10 debut with their latest effort, The Sound of the Life of the Mind , which came in at #10 with just under 30,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The Sound of the Life of the Mind is the first album from the trio since 1999's The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner , which debuted at a peak #35 on the tally.
