GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - A woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after police say she was hit by a car in Green Bay.

It happened just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday at South Baird and Emilie streets.

Police say they found 21-year-old Jennifer Roberts unconscious in the road.

"Information we had from the driver at the scene was that she darted out in front of his vehicle," says Green Bay Police Lt. Kevin Warych. "And he struck her."

Warych indicates a witness says he tried to get Roberts off the street before the crash.

"The witness tried to help the female, who was walking in the middle of the street, but the female denied all help from this bystander," says Warych.

31-year-old Todd Destree was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated causing great bodily harm.
