ZZ Top ’s first studio album in nine years, La Futura , made a big splash on the Billboard 200 chart this week. The album claims the #6 spot on the chart, selling 31,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
La Futura ’s first-week sales performance marks the band’s best sales week to date for the Texas trio, who last visited the upper reaches of the tally in 1992, when its Greatest Hits compilation reached the number-nine slot. La Futura 's predecessor, 2003's Mescalero , peaked at #57 on the chart.
ZZ Top currently is supporting La Futura with a U.S. tour that's scheduled through an October 27 show at Bee Cave, Texas.
