Tune in to the Discovery Channel at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesday to watch Aerosmith 's Joe Perry fire some heavy artillery on a new episode of Sons of Guns . The guitarist, who happens to collect vintage guns and other weapons, is featured bringing an antique Lyle cannon he owns to be repaired at the Baton Raton, Louisiana-based Red Jacket Firearms shop, which is the focus of the series.
While Perry is visiting Red Jacket, the shop's owner allows the rocker, his wife, Billie , and other members of his family to test out a variety of guns. The show culminates with Perry getting the chance to fire his cannon at a special target.
Perry discussed his fascination with guns in a recent interview with ArtistDirect.com .
"Being a strong believer and upholder of the second amendment and the whole constitution, I've been collecting guns ever since my father gave me his father's .22 pistol back when I was very young," he revealed. "I collect all kinds [of firearms], but my main interest is in the older weapons."
Regarding his experience on Sons of Guns and at Red Jacket Firearms, he said, "It was a lot of fun. It was great hanging out down there. Personally, it helped out with my collection and I learned a lot while I was down there."
