MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - A gynecologist from suburban Milwaukee is on trial for allegedly molesting four women during their appointments.
48-year-old Evan Saunders of Whitefish Bay is charged with a total of 8 misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and fourth-degree sexual assault.
A 28-year-old woman testified that she want to Dr. Saunders in 2008 to treat abdominal pain and a vaginal discharge. And after they talked for a while, Saunders allegedly asked the woman about her sexual activity and her ability to create an orgasm.
She told jurors that she wondered what was happening – but she didn’t question the doctor because she trusted him.
Prosecutors said the case will hinge on whether the jury believes the four victims.
Defense lawyer Michael Steinle said the state must prove that Saunders touched the women for his own sexual gratification. Steinle said the doctor had, “perfectly acceptable reasons” for the way he dealt with each of the women.
The state Medical Examining Board suspended Saunders’ medical license in May of last year, pending the results of a full investigation of the matter.
