SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ) - The NEW Zoo in Suamico has received quite an honor.
On Tuesday, the Association of Zoos and Aquariums announced the NEW Zoo was granted accreditation by AZA's independent Accreditation Commission.
The NEW Zoo went through an extensive review to ensure it has and will continue to meet ever-rising standards, which include animal care, veterinary programs, education, conservation and safety.
AZA requires zoos and aquariums to complete the accreditation process every five years in order to be members of the association.
"Accreditation by the AZA signifies how very important the Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo's commitment is to excellence in animal care, guest experience, education and wildlife conservation," NEW Zoo Direction Neil Anderson tells FOX 11.
