UNDATED (WSAU) Bow hunters were in the woods last weekend -- opening weekend of deer hunting. This year the bow season is restructured. It runs through January, giving archers more time to hunt than in the past.

Many hunters reported seeing more deer than past years. And many reporting stations said the number of deer taken, and the overall sizes were up from a year ago.

The DNR will be out with preliminary statewide numbers today or tomorrow.

The gun-deer season begins November 17th, and runs through November 25th.
