R.E.M. is none too happy that Fox News played the band's 1991 hit "Losing My Religion" during Wednesday’s coverage of the Democratic National Convention.

Former frontman Michael Stipe voiced his outrage at the use of the track by posting a statement on the band’s website.  "We have little or no respect for their puff adder brand of reportage,” wrote Stipe.  “Our music does not belong there."

The band's publisher, Warner-Tamerlane Music, has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the network.
