GERMANTOWN, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s lieutenant governor says President Obama has, “failed the women of America.”
Rebecca Kleefisch made the remark to about two dozen Republican women Wednesday night in Germantown. That was just hours before the Democrat Obama was officially re-nominated to a second term in the White House.
Kleefisch says high unemployment and the high price of gasoline will have women voting with their pocketbooks in November. And despite what many Democrats say, Kleefisch says social issues like abortion and access to contraceptives will not have an impact among women voters this time.
Republicans are trying to cut into the state’s gender gap, in which women strongly prefer Obama while men are predominantly behind Republican Mitt Romney.
A recent poll from Quinnipiac University, CBS, and the New York Times had Obama leading 59 to 36 percent among Wisconsin’s female voters – while Romney led among the men, 53-43.
