Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament has revealed that his side project RDMN , which features singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur and Fastbacks / Three Fish drummer Richard Stuverud , was inspired by the tragic death of his best friend in 2009.
"Something happened to me then where I got super motivated," Ament tells Billboard.com . "I had a shelf of all this unfinished music... So I just went to work and made a conscious decision that I was going to finish a bunch of stuff. Life's short.”
Ament adds that creating music for the band’s upcoming debut album, Acts , helped him overcome the loss of his friend. “I feel good now, I feel I worked through that whole thing and got three records out of it culminating with [RNDM], the easiest one,” notes the bassist. “When you have the right chemistry it's amazing how fast things go."
Acts will arrive at all the usual outlets on October 30.
