MOSINEE, Wis (WSAU) The Mosinee Fire Department responded to a brush fire along the banks of the Wisconsin River on Sunday afternoon. There were concerns because of windy conditions and because the fire was near the Mosinee Paper Mill. They were able to put it out before it spread.

It's not clear how much land was blackened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

For a time the smoke covered the Main Street Bridge, reducing visibility for drivers. Emergency equipment blocked several lanes while the fire was put out.
