A new Jimi Hendrix album titled People, Hell and Angels offering a dozen previously unheard recordings by the late guitar master is scheduled to be released on March 5, 2013. RollingStone.com reports that the collection features music that the revolutionary artist made during 1968 and 1969 while he was working separately from his group The Jimi Hendrix Experience .
The tracks find Hendrix experimenting with adding a variety of new sonic textures to his sound, including horns, keyboards and percussion. The recordings were made while Jimi was amassing material for First Rays of the New Rising Sun , the two-disc album he intended to make following what turned out to be his final studio effort, 1969's Electric Ladyland .
RollingStone.com has unveiled the cover art for People, Hell and Angels , which features a simple black and white photo of Hendrix along with the album title scrawled in white script lettering in the lower right hand corner. More information about the album will be revealed this Tuesday, which would have been Hendrix's 70th birthday.
