MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Operation Dry Water over the weekend led to ten arrests for drunk boating and issued more than 140 tickets for various boating offenses. The DNR’s preliminary report shows more than 20 law enforcement agencies statewide made contact with 2,600 boaters. The highest blood alcohol level of a person arrested was .18, more than twice the legal limit to operate a boat or vehicle. Nearly 30 people received citations for other violations like fishing, drugs, and warrants. Nearly 430 people were given various boating warnings. Last year’s Operation Dry Water stopped around 730 less boaters but made more OWI arrests and gave more tickets and warnings for boating violations.
