LAKE MENDOTA, WI (WTAQ) - Dane County authorities say the body they pulled from Lake Mendota Friday morning is likely that of a missing 22 year old Madison man. The identity hasn’t been confirmed yet. The man was swimming with a friend early today when he went under. The friend swam to shore and called 911 for help a little before 3 a.m. The missing swimmer became distressed in an area of the lake where the water is about 12 feet deep. The Madison Fire Department’s Rescue Team started the search, but had to turn it over to the Dane County Sheriff’s office a little after 8 a.m. when Madison ran out of air in its divers’ tanks.
