Woods ranks third on the new countdown with estimated 2011/2012 earnings of $59.4 million (£37.1 million).

Mayweather, Jr.'s chief rival, Manny Pacquiao, comes in second on the Forbes list with earnings of $62 million (£39 million).

Only two women make the top 100 - Maria Sharapova ranks number 26 and fellow tennis ace Li Na comes in at 81.

Mayweather, Jr. checked into prison in May (12) for a three-month stint for a domestic violence charge.
