MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A former prosecutor in eastern Wisconsin has agreed to plead no contest to six sex-related violations of attorney conduct rules. Ken Kratz will enter those pleas at a hearing on Tuesday, after the state Office of Lawyer Regulation agreed to drop five other counts. Three were dropped yesterday, and two this morning. The Supreme Court has been asked to suspend Kratz’s law license for six months. The office filed 11 charges with the State Supreme Court last November, accusing Kratz of numerous sex-related violations of attorney conduct. His case was first made public in 2010, a few months after he sent 30 sexually-explicit text messages to a woman while he prosecuting her ex-boyfriend for abusing her. The 11 charges also accused him of making sexual remarks to other women, and having sex with a woman he prosecuted. The charges related to the sexual assault were the latest to be dropped today. Kratz resigned as Calumet County’s DA in 2010, after former Governor Jim Doyle started proceedings to remove him. Kratz later opened a private law practice in the Fox Valley. But he filed for bankruptcy and moved to Florida earlier this year.
