When Aerosmith 's Global Warming Tour landed in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Tuesday, the rock legends treated fans to a very special reunion. To close out the event, the Boston bad boys brought out Run-D.M.C. 's Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels , who helped to recreate the landmark 1986 rap-rock duet rendition of Aerosmith 's "Walk this Way."
"That's a little bit of history right there," singer Steven Tyler remarked after the performance, according to a report in Sound + Vision magazine.
Aerosmith's original version of "Walk this Way" reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975. But when Run-D.M.C. covered the tune with help from Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry in 1986, the track rose all the way to #4, while inspiring a slew of artists to meld hard-rock and hip-hop.
Aerosmith's next stop on their Global Warming trek takes place Thursday night in Atlanta.
