MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A $200,000 cash bond has been set for a Madison man accused of killing a Marine veteran from Dubuque Iowa in a drug deal that apparently went sour.
22-year-old Bobby Hogans is charged with felony murder and armed robbery. He’s due back in court next Tuesday, when a Dane County circuit judge will decide if there’s enough evidence to order a trial.
The murder victim was 25-year-old Samuel Harris of Dubuque, who received an honorable discharge from the Marines after serving for 5 years.
Prosecutors said Harris went to an apartment in Fitchburg last week to sell a gun and buy cocaine – and he was about to be robbed when he was shot.
Hogans told investigators that another man shot Harris while the victim and Hogans were wrestling over the gun. Two other men were arrested in the incident, but they have not been charged yet.
