APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - Outagamie County’s Emergency Management is encouraging residents without air conditioning to visit designated cooling spots around the county. A heat advisory remains in effect for the rest of the week. Outagamie Co. Emergency Management Director Christina Muller says the “cooling shelters” have not been opened specifically for the heat but are all public destinations available along bus routes. They are; Appleton Public Library, Thompson Community Center, Kaukuana Public Library, Hortonville Public Library, Fox River Mall, and Muehl Public Library in Seymour. Muller says all of the designated cooling spots are only open during normal business hours. Muller is also asking people to double check up the elderly and kids often to make sure they are not suffering from health related illness or exhaustion. All the fans in the world not be able to bring down the body’s core temperature, once temps reach in into the 90’s with high humidity.
