The Green Bay Phoenix will be without one of it's top rebounders for the rest of the season as sophomore forward Daniel Turner tore the ACL in his right knee in Saturday's loss to Valparaiso. Turner scored 11 points on four of five shooting against the Crusaders and he was averaging nearly five rebounds a game. Turner will have reconstructive surgery in a couple of weeks and is expected to return next season. Because he's played in more than 30 percent of the Green Bay games this season, he won't be eligible to be red-shirted. It's the second significant injury of the year for the Phoenix. Forward Jarvis Williams has already missed six games and will be out at least another month with a stress fracture in his right foot. Green Bay finishes up a three game road trip at UW-Milwaukee Saturday.
Senior forward Julie Wojta was named the Horizon League player of the week for the second time this season. In two victories last week, Wojta averaged 14.5 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Green Bay women improved to 12-0 on the year. The Phoenix also moved up one spot to number 17 in this week's Associated Press top 25. The Green Bay women return to the floor Saturday afternoon at UW-Milwaukee.
