APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) - A plea deal leaves a high school teen mom with no jail time for abandoning her new born baby behind Kimberly church. 17-year-old Nadia Zahirudin was sentenced to three years of probation in Outagamie County Court and will have to serve 20 hours of community service each year on charges of abandonment and child neglect.  Zahirudin and the baby’s father 18-year-old Benjamin LaMarche left the newborn near a door and dumpster at the Fox Valley Christian Fellowship back in May of 2011.  It happened only an hour after she gave birth to the baby girl.  LaMarche apparently first went to the local hospital but did not go in for fear of getting in trouble.  If the baby was dropped off at the hospital, the parents would be immune to any charges of abandonment under Wisconsin Safe Haven Law.  LaMarche is also facing similar charges and has a plea hearing scheduled for March 13th. The baby is doing fine and was last with child protective serivces for Outagamie County.
