LA CROSSE, WI (WTAQ) - La Crosse is about to get its first new police chief in almost two decades.
Waukesha Police Captain Ronald Tischer was offered the job Thursday. He’s expected to replace Ed Kondracki, who retired in April after 19 years in La Crosse and 28 years with the Milwaukee police force.
Kondracki was the second-longest serving police chief in La Crosse history.
Assistant chief Rob Abraham has been serving as the acting chief since Kondracki left. Abraham was one of the finalists for the post, along with the chief in nearby Onalaska.
