BRILLION, WI (WTAQ) - A major employer in Brillion is laying off 198 workers.

Brillion Iron Works says that includes 184 hourly and 14 salaried positions. The layoffs will take effect on Saturday.

Company officials blame slowing demand for its products in recent months.

As part of the reduction, the company will maintain 7 work crews, instead of 11, and eliminate the majority of its temporary salaried positions.

The foundry makes products for commercial vehicles like semis.
