Earlier this month, The Gaslight Anthem rocked the Billboard 200, scoring the #3 spot with their major label debut album, Handwritten . Guitarist Alex Rosamilia says that working with Mercury Records was a very pleasant experience.
“Working with a major label was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be,” Rosamilia tells NME.com in a video interview. “I thought they were gonna have their hands in it a lot more than they did and they really just let us go and do our own thing which was pretty awesome.”
Frontman Brian Fallon added that their new label gave them “really encouraging comments” and didn’t push the band during their recording process. “We had a really easy time [making Handwritten ] which was cool because this is the most pressure in our career we’ve ever been under,” notes Fallon. “It’s a good feeling to have people who genuinely like what you’re doing.”
You’ll get your chance to hear the new songs performed live when The Gaslight Anthem kicks off the next leg of their North American tour on September 14 at Saint Andrews Hall in Detroit, MI.
