Nickelback's known for their over-the-top rock stylings, but in the video for their new ballad " Trying Not to Love You ," they're changing things up.  First of all, the band doesn't even appear in the clip.  Instead, it stars Seinfeld actor Jason Alexander -- who plays dual roles -- and former Baywatch actress Brooke Burns .  Second, the whole thing plays out like a very short episode of a sitcom, complete with title credits.

In the clip, Alexander's a schlub named Bud who works at a coffee shop, crafting awesome lattes with cute little pictures in the foam.  When his dream girl, Gennifer -- played by Brooke -- walks in, he loses his cool and becomes a bumbling mess.  He tries to make her the perfect latte, but all he can do is fantasize about her wearing lingerie and rolling around in coffee beans, or floating in a raft in a giant coffee cup.

Meanwhile, another guy -- also played by Alexander -- shows up in response to a "help wanted" sign on the shop window.  He arrives on a motorcycle, and sports a fedora, facial hair and dark glasses, as well as his own coffee-making tools.  Kissing Gennifer's hand, he starts to pump out perfect lattes, each one with a painstakingly-detailed picture crafted in the foam, all of which feature him in some sort of heroic role.  As a crowd gathers, cheering him on, Bud tries to compete, but he just can't.

Dejected, he creates a single latte for Gennifer -- featuring their initials in two hearts -- and hangs up his apron in disgust.  But Gennifer is blown away by the latte, and Bud drives her away on his scooter, leaving Mr. Suave Super Latte Maker surrounded by adoring fans, but without the girl.

According to MTV , the video has confused some fans, who've posted comments like, "That was the actual video?"; "WTF is this?"; "Do Nickelback know that their song is being used for this video?" and "What the hell did I just watch?"
