MILAN (Reuters) - Lance Armstrong's RadioShack team have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after not being invited to the Tour of Lombardy on October 16 despite previously reaching an agreement with organizers.

"Team RadioShack has immediately summoned RCS SPORT before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS), seeking compensation for damages due to the nonfulfillment of the contract between Team RadioShack and RCS Sport regarding the participation in the Tour of Lombardy," a team statement said on Friday.

American Armstrong, a seven-time winner of the Tour de France, decided not to race in May's Giro d'Italia, RCS's flagship event, having participated for the first time in 2009.
